Table is a passion project dedicated to supporting the Asian and Pacific Islander creative community. The idea for Table started with conversations around the lack of awareness and celebration surrounding the community of API creativity. A Google search of "asian art" quickly reveals beautiful work, largely from centuries ago. The acceptance and understanding of our work is often rooted in the past. Yet, when we look at the current creative landscape at large, there is a strong and consistent influence from the API family. Table is our attempt to bring the rightful exposure of these artists to the world, while celebrating the API family at large. It's a statement that we are here — we will not wait for a seat at the table, we will create our own Table.
Many thanks to our friends at Gold House for the support and guidance, as well as the team of curators who graciously volunteered their time — Lulu Yao Gioiello, Christina Mei Rouse, Gina Jee, Matthew Vu, Kat To, Alex Tan and Izzy Rael. Thank you.
The artists currently featured on Table are only a fraction of those submitted; as we have time, will continue to update the index. We've done our best to ensure accuracy of credentials, however, if we've made any mistakes please don't hesitate to reach out. If you are, or know of anyone, who might be a good fit for Table, please let us know via email.
Welcome to our Table,
Wayne Wu & Greg Lutze
